Derrick Hill

Vice President of Cox Business and Hospitality Network, Cox Communications

As Vice President of Cox Business (CB) and Hospitality Network (HN) in Las Vegas, Derrick Hill has a lead role in helping to shape the technology future of businesses in Southern Nevada through the alignment of technology needs with business imperatives and connections to community institutions and major resort partners.

The immediate past chairman of the Las Vegas Global Economic Alliance, Hill is actively engaged in economic expansion and diversification efforts throughout the Southern Nevada region. He recently was approved by the Nevada System of Higher Education Board of Regents to join the Board of Trustees for the UNLV Foundation in support of the University’s vision to be recognized as a top-tier public university in research, education, and community impact by 2025. He previously served on Gov. Steve Sisolak’s subcommittee for the election of Michael Brown as executive director of the Governor’s Office of Economic Development.

At CB/HN, Hill directs a team of 250 employees that create and lead business strategies to grow the commercial and hospitality business in Southern Nevada. This includes short- and long-range plans for increased commercial revenue and margin contribution, while improving the customer’s experience in areas such as small and medium business services, carrier and wholesale services as well as targeted vertical and enterprise customers.

Since arriving in Southern Nevada in 2013, Hill has enhanced and expanded CB/HN relationships within the business community including the Las Vegas Convention and Visitors Authority (LVCVA), Wynn/Encore, UNLV, Clark County School District, City of Las Vegas, City of Henderson, T-Mobile Arena and Las Vegas Ballpark.

He and his team helped lead Smart City initiatives in the region and were instrumental in securing Cox Communications as a founding partner of Allegiant Stadium, powering the connected fan experience at the future home of the Raiders and their Henderson practice facility.

With more than two decades of sales and leadership experience, Hill has been recognized for building high-performing teams that drive demonstrated results as well as business process optimization.

Hill is an inspirational leader with a devotion to creating diverse and inclusive cultures and currently serves on the Cox National Council and the Executive Sponsor of Southwest Region Council for Diversity & Inclusion encompassing Cox operations in Las Vegas, Phoenix, and Tucson, AZ. He has presented guest lectures on topics including “Leadership & Ethics in Business” as well as “Building and Developing Effective Teams.”

A graduate of Governors State University with a bachelor’s degree in Health Administration, Hill received a master’s degree from Kellogg School of Management at Northwestern University. He recently completed the National Association of Multi-Ethnicity in Communications (NAMIC) Executive Leadership Development Program at the University of Virginia, Darden School of Business and the Cable Executive Management Program at Harvard Business School.

A devoted dog lover and sports fan with a passion to improve his golf game, Hill served on the committee presenting the 2019 Mitsubishi Motors Las Vegas Bowl, featuring opponents from the Pac-12 and Moutain West Conferences. He also enjoys science fiction movies and reading.
