Betsy Fretwell

Betsy Fretwell is the Chief Operating Officer at Las Vegas Grand Prix, Inc., bringing over 30 years of executive experience in both public and private sectors to the organization. In this role, Fretwell oversees the overall race and event operations; business, community and stakeholder relations; as well as the year-round activation of Grand Prix Plaza.

Fretwell is a graduate of the University of Georgia with a bachelor’s degree in political science and a master’s degree in public administration. She completed the Harvard University Senior Executives in State and Local Government Program in 2007 and is a fellow of the National Academy of Public Administration.

Fretwell served in the public sector in the Las Vegas Metropolitan Area for 27 years, including nine years as City Manager for the City of Las Vegas, where she oversaw more than 3,300 employees and a $1.3 billion annual budget.

In 2017, Fretwell joined Switch, an IT infrastructure and data center company, where as Executive Vice President of Strategy, she was responsible for strategic initiatives, government affairs, public sector business development, mergers and acquisitions, special projects and strategic partnerships. Following her five-year tenure, Fretwell founded and led C4WARD STRATEGIES LTD, an independent management consulting firm.

Today, Fretwell is the 2024 Chair of the Vegas Chamber Board of Trustees and a member of various other business organizations, including the Las Vegas Global Economic Alliance and Las Vegas Events, underscoring her commitment to advancing the region’s economic vitality. For leisure, Betsy enjoys playing golf, hiking, biking, gardening, and cooking.

Since joining Las Vegas Grand Prix, Inc. in January 2024, she most looks forward to continued collaboration with local government officials, stakeholders, and the community to ensure the long-term success of the event and fostering economic growth within the valley. Her vision is to build upon the resounding success of the inaugural FORMULA 1 HEINEKEN SILVER LAS VEGAS GRAND PRIX and further solidify Las Vegas’ stature as the premier Sports and Entertainment Capital of the World.
