The Howard Hughes Corporation

Kevin T. Orrock is President of Summerlin, a 22,500-acre award-winning master-planned community and one of the most compelling real estate success stories in the country.  A visionary whose long-term, 40-plus year career with The Howard Hughes Corporation, Orrock helped to shape Summerlin from its inception more than 27 years ago.  He brings to the corporation a deep understanding of the community and the development process, as well a keen business and financial acumen that has contributed to Summerlin’s ongoing success as Southern Nevada’s premier community for more than two decades.

Orrock began his impressive career with The Howard Hughes Corporation (HHC), when he joined in 1974 the accounting department at the famed Desert Inn Hotel in Las Vegas, then owned by Summa Corporation, predecessor to HHC.  Orrock held numerous accounting and finance positions before being named treasurer in 1991.  Prior to the settlement of Howard Hughes’ estate, Orrock managed its entire cash portfolio.

In 1996, The Rouse Company (TRC) of Columbia, MD, acquired HHC and Orrock remained in an executive role, overseeing the financial operations for TRC in Nevada.  In 2004 when General Growth Properties, Inc. (GGP) of Chicago, IL, acquired TRC, Orrock moved to operations, overseeing land development activities for GGP in Nevada.

As President of Summerlin, Orrock oversees all functions of the community, which led the nation in home sales for more than a decade during the 1990s and early 2000s.  Today, Summerlin maintains its position of dominance as the region’s leading and standard-setting real estate development that is home to more than 100,000 residents and boasts its own 106-acre fashion, dining and entertainment destination – Downtown Summerlin. This world-class outdoor pedestrian retail center opened to critical acclaim and much fanfare in October 2014 and continues to add exciting new brands to its impressive line-up of more than 125 powerhouse names, as well as additional office and urban style residential neighborhoods. Summerlin is the largest of HHC’s holdings which also include master-planned communities in Maryland and Texas along with development opportunities in 14 states.
