Dr. Federico Zaragoza
President, College of Southern Nevada
Dr. Federico Zaragoza is the president and CEO of the College of Southern Nevada. He joined CSN in 2018 after unanimous approval by the Board of Regents of the Nevada System of Higher Education.
He and his wife Laura are the proud parents of two children and two grandchildren. He previously served as the Vice Chancellor for Economic and Workforce Development at the Alamo Colleges in San Antonio, Texas. Dr. Zaragoza was the recipient of the 2015 Education Brilliant Award from the National Society of Hispanic MBAs (NSHMBA), 2015 Texas Association of Community Colleges Carl Nelson Leadership – Administrator of the Year Award, 2017 Goodwill Industries Bill Sinken Award, 2017 LULAC National Educator of the Year and the 2018 La Prensa – Lifetime Education Achievement Award. In 2013, he was reappointed by the US Secretary of Education, Arne Duncan, to serve on the National Advisory Committee on Institutional Quality and Integrity (NACIQI), which was established to enforce national education standards for accrediting agencies or associations.
Dr. Zaragoza is a distinguished lecturer in workforce, technical and industrial education, and has lectured throughout the United States and in Germany, India, Spain, Brazil, Colombia, Peru, Canada, Nicaragua, Guatemala, Saudi Arabia and Mexico. He also co-authored the Texas Workforce Commission Limited English Proficiency (LEP) Handbook for Workforce Professionals. In March 2016, President of India Shriller Pranab Mukherjee invited Dr. Zaragoza to provide one of the keynote addresses on workforce innovation at the National Festival of Innovation in New Delhi, India.
Dr. Zaragoza holds a Bachelor of Arts in Sociology, Master’s degree in Vocational Education, an Educational Specialist degree in Industrial and Technical Education from the University of Wisconsin-Stout, and a Ph.D. in Urban Education and Administrative Leadership from the University of Wisconsin-Milwaukee.
